Using NBS with NexSpeech® for speech mapping
In a NexSpeech® mapping session, the patient performs a continuous naming task while images of everyday objects are displayed in sequence. As the stimulation coil is moved over a presumed speech area, trains of rTMS are delivered, synchronized with each image.
The impact of the rTMS on the patient´s speech behavior is recorded on video for later analysis. Visualization of the E-field in the cortex on the NBS System screen helps the operator map the area around the tumor. After analysis, the results of speech mapping are displayed in the 3D rendering of the head and can be exported to surgical planning and neuronavigation systems.
