Neurosurgery: Motor and speech mapping
Department of Neurosurgery, Kuopio University Hospital, Finland
A 54-year-old patient was admitted to neurological emergency because of a sudden epileptic seizure and speech problems. The eXimia NBS mapping system was used in preoperative mapping of eloguent motor areas (orange) and the area where rTMS led to altered naming of objects (red).

The NBS is now used routinely with certain tumor patients. The protocol provides images of all stimulated points inside the brain and all locations eliciting responses, thereby marking the brain areas to be avoided during surgery.

Note to U.S. residents: The NBS System has been cleared by the FDA for assessment of the primary motor
cortex for pre-procedural planning only.
